This week I seem to need simple tasks to complete. My mind is on the birthday season that is arriving starting this weekend - seven birthdays in the next seven weeks. In my head I'm juggling gift ideas with menus and shopping and after-the-holiday finances. For that reason, I only am able to get excited by easy and quick projects like this one.
I saw this in Martha You-Know-Who some time ago and stored the idea away for times such as these. I'm diggin' how they turned out. Very little time investment and I think they will be appreciated gifts.
Next time I'll use thinner fabric because there is a little gap around the edge and maybe I'll hang something from the button.
I stuffed the jars with notions from our huge stock of stuff that gets picked up at garage sales and thrift stores and rummage sales - binding, zippers, thread, needles and thimbles. Tidbits for the seamstress and all, of course, color-coordinated. Nothing less would do.
I'm also going to dream up straight pin decorations. Darling Jen B. sent me those owlies and they are looking very wise up there on their perch.
Teresa's idea for getting next year's gifts done early is stupendous and is motivating me onward. If you haven't committed you might want to consider it. It is definitely a spur in the butt of naturally-lazy kids like me.
Temperatures today are supposed to go down to the 30's and by tomorrow there is an expected high somewhere in the 20's. That means, for California flatlanders like myself, that life as we know it will come to a halt. We don't do weather. Maybe you could blow some warm air westward.
A head full of birthday details and fingers that are fumbling and frozen - sounds like a perfect day.
