ATC's - Artist Trading Cards. Who doesn't love 'em? It tickles me when I read about how much fun someone has had making their first ATC's. Little pieces of art with no rhyme or reason except to be what you want it to be. ATC's are small little works that satisfy our delight in the miniature. But, also, because of their tiny-ness, they don't become a big deal. If you don't like how one is turning out, tossing it out and starting over is always an option. No tears, no fears.
I LOVE getting ATC's from my fellow bloggers. I love looking at them over and over. I know some of you, the really organized ones (argh!!!), have binders and clear pockets in which to put these precious pieces of art. I have some of mine sitting out on my dresser, so I can feel the love and bask in their beauty.
These are some ATC's that I recently made and gave away. Gotta say that I had a ball whipping these up. I kind of go with a theme but I've seen many folks who just make up single cards - unique little art pieces.
These are some that I made last year for an ATC swap that I participated in. I just threw together elements that pleased me, always plugging the crown and my closeness to royalty. You know how I am.
All this is leading up to something - I promise.
This is what I was thinking. I'd like to host a little swap. I'm not much of an organizer but this ATC as art idea has been burrowing in to my brain for a while now. This is what I propose. Lets swap ATC's that are ready to hang on the wall - let's swap an ATC that you've made and then either creatively mounted and/or framed or cleverly made gallery-ready. The size of the ATC needn't be exactly 2 x 3.5 " but something like that. The frame can be bought and tweaked or just kept the way it is. The ATC could be mounted and otherwise decorated. All I stipulate is that it be ready for wall mounting. I will take names until April 9. I will put together the swap partners and set the deadline for mailing the ATC at May 11. Swappers should be willing to post a photo of the ATC they receive on their blog. If you don't have a blog you can still get in on the fun, I will post the photo for you.
Anybody up for this? Give me holler, leave me a comment or email me. Let's put ART back into Artist Trading Card. Whatya say? Give me an A, Give me a T, Give me a C. What's that spell? What's that spell? What's that spell? I can't hear you!
