I am decidedly cranky. And I've been this cranky for a while now. I think my good nature went on a trip and left a nasty old lady to housesit. I can barely get in the door at work of a morning without someone rasping on my nerves and harshing on my morning mellow.
I am suffering from testiness and daggummitude with a mountainside of impatience. I want people who want to borrow my brain instead of using their own to be kicked off the island. I want scarily anxious folks to get a grip on something other than my arm. I want the phone to stop ringing and everybody to play nice!!!!
I needed a mantra, some soothing word or phrase, something to remind me to take a breath and remember what's good. Something to kick me in the butt when the snarkiness tries to escape my mouth. Something that will elbow me in the ribs with the message that the world would be a nicer place without a snippy Ms. Queen on the loose.
Give thanks.
I will try to conjure it up when black thoughts cloud my vision, I will tattoo it to the back of my forehead. I will write it 500 times on the whiteboard and I will do it for homework every day. I'll have it for breakfast and wear it on a chain around my neck. I'm putting it on my speed dial and ordering a ton of it on the internet. My gas tank is filled with it now and I painted each and every toe and fingernail with that color.
Give thanks.
Despite all my efforts though, I might still need a reminder now and again from you.
Good luck with your mission! I'm thankful for you!

I am thankful for you, too!
As a parent, I'm thankful for ladies like you that keep the whole school running!

Man, you are describing exactly how I'm feeling these days. The crankiness, I mean, not the thankfulness, unfortunately.
I think I better get on the plan with you.

Life gets like that at times doesn't it. We are all human, and can't possibly be superhuman 365 days a year or 366 days in a leap year LOL
But what a wonderful banner - and I hope that some of the perpetrators causing your angst will look up, read it, shut up, and go elsewhere.
If someone is in 'full flow', just put your finger to your closed lips - smile - and point to the banner - then the door!

You are a broad to be thankful for.
You also understimate yourself as a writer, so give thanks for your way with words too.
Oh, and the creativity...give thanks for the creativity.
Oh, oh, one more: Jesse L. Martin...give thanks for him too.

I'm a bit of a cranky yankee myself these days. I'm trying to be grateful, but the damn wind is blowing so hard that my gratutude seems to be going with it.

Well here's some serendipity! Hi, we've never met -- I followed a link here and was immediately smitten by your BEAUTIFUL posies, love love love them. And then I read this post and thought "Aha! Something I know something about." Honey, when you get a full-on Crank Attack, pulling out love and gratitude is like closing the curtains in a hurricane. You gotta let that Crank DANCE! Wooo! Go with it. What does she want to do? Write a poison pen letter? Tear some gorgeous fabric into long shaggy strips? Write a poison pen letter on fabric and then tear it into long shaggy strips? Dance in the storm, baby. Have some fun. xxoo.

Queen Bee ~
Don't let those jerk-a-napes get you down. Stick to your mantra and remember all the things you ARE thankfull for and forget the rest.
Love the banner!
Fondly,

The only cure I can think of? Evanovich had to hurry up and publish #16. I think that would do it.

I think that is an excellent mantra. Some days can be really tough to get through and it's nice to have good reminders to help us through. Hope your mood passes soon!!! I've been there, sister!

Also? I think that if a person is gonna steal another person's idea? At least add some kind of twist to it to make it one's own. And stop stealing my ideas.

Not you of course. But just someone. And it makes me cranky and ungrateful. ARGH.

I understand your feelings... you have had some hard times.. and time for us at our age isn't unlimited...and some STUFF is so STUPID it is unbearable.. and it is hard to tell your self it even matters in the end.. you need to develop some containment procedures since you recognize clearly what is going on ... in fact, the banner you made shows you have some procedures in place all ready.. it is wonderful and it had to have made you feel great to create it.. so rest and make things and thrift and read and spend time with your family ... if it makes you feel better do it and not what makes you feel bad.. you will be fine that way ...enjoy what you can

Cranky Vallen, she needs to take a nap (what the kid would say). Sounds like your crankiness is over. But I hear ya sista. We all have our moments. Hugs. (Oh and the banner? How could that not cheer everyone up who read it?)
