I don't decorate much for holidays. Not even for Christmas. I know that's blasphemous to say in these crafty lands. I mostly just couldn't be bothered. But there is something about this year and the 4th of July that has gotten me on a red, white and blue streak. I couldn't tell you why. Well there ain't no time to wonder why, Whoopee
It's no secret that I love summer. I love warm days and the warmth of the sun on your cheeks and shoulders and balmy nights, sleeping under only a sheet. I love summer clothes - light, cotton skirts, comfy t-shirts and flipflops in every color. And summer food - my favorite. Watermelon, bbq, salads, fresh berries, ice cream and fried chicken. I can't even write about it without droolin'. Yep, I love everything that is summer. But decorating? Not so much.
Until this year. This year my heart beats true neath the red, white and blue.
And I'm silly about embroidery - which I've only attempted one other time about 40 years ago. You like? The sweetness of this little colibri (hummingbird) makes up for my lack of technique. I'm gonna get better though, no worries. Red, white and blues - long may they wave.
And I've hauled out the beads. Hey guess what, there are beading needles that go through any bead-size hole!! I know, old news to you but now that I've found them, beading is pretty fun. So, I'm going to town, riding on a pony. I'll stick a feather in my hat and call it macaroni.
Hey, macaroni - painted red, white and blue. I feel another project coming on.
That little bird is just as cute as it can be. Red White and Blue....gives me a few Ideas. I really like the beads too.

WOW! Your embroidery looks amazing! Nice job! I think its extra fun to decorate when you can use all handmade things. Otherwise it seems too commercial for me. Love the new banner too!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I, too, am among the few that really don't go overboard on the decorations. I do decorate a bit for Christmas and change the look of the house for the fall--but the rest of the year, not so much.
Summer though--all your fav things are mine as well, oh to be foot loose and fancy free in our flip flops, it doesn't get much better than that!

You were a military wife, weren't you? Well that explains part of your red, white & blue love right there! :)

1. I am definetly lazier than you. 2. I love Red, White, and Blue. I sang the macaroni song today to my neice...who wanted to bounce on my "good knee".

I love it all! As I was reading I was humming "oh say can you see, by the dawns early light, what so proudly we hailed, at the twilights last gleaming, whose broad stripes and bright stars..........."

I'm not a big decorator either. I decorated for the Seasons and throw in a bit of holiday decor if the mood strikes! From Memorial Day until Labor Day my house is decked out in red, white, and blue! Love it!! Love the embroidery. Too cute!
