I never promised you a rose garden
Which is pretty darn lucky 'cause I would have left you lacking.
I was cruising Blogville the other day and I was blown away by this. A beautiful garden of roses.
I read the accompanying instruction and it just piqued my curiosity, well you'll see. Anyway, it looked so easy so today I dug out the very few solid colors of fabric that I have. I didn't have many and unfortunately some of the ones I have are of dubious lineage (I think they are relatives of Paulie and Esther), but I really was intrigued by this alchemy of fabric into roses.
I cut out squares and pressed folds. So far so good. Then I ran up the colorful bits on the machine just as I was instructed. Back to folding and pressing and stitching. Looked like a winner.
Then came the twisting part. First one way then the other. Then some poking. Then some prodding. A little pressing, more twisting - lots more prodding. Then some swearing and twisting. Some tugging and twisting. Stamping feet once or twice and then a tiny little scream. More twisting and throwing, then a sigh. Go look at the other lady's roses. Hers are cool. Mine need a little fertilizer.
How COOL are THESE?! There sure are some talented people in the world. Ahhhh, that includes YOU Vallen (smiles)
And by the way . . .if you're ever in my neck of the woods, let me know so we can go to Orange and shop around!!

Vallen, these are amazing -- I want to make some too.... as soon as I can find some solid fabric. I giggled at the foot stamping and the scream. I will be there too -- but I simply must try!!
Thanks,
Jenny

How inspiring are these! I am not kidding. The texture is wonderful and so are all the colors. I love'em. Show me some more, please.

I think they look great. After going to her blog, it seems that some of her instructions aren't very plain and lots of words seem to be missing. Maybe that's where the foot stomping and screaming come in!

Now aren't you clever? I read the instructions on the link you posted and see at the end she mentioned tacking the centers down somehow. I wondered how they were going to keep their shape. Do you think this idea could somehow transfer to paper. Maybe tissue paper?

what didn't I explain? Sorry if I left out words- sometimes I am rather blunt and think everyone is following right along with me. Your roses look lovely, by the way. I am also making leaves for them and will show the shawl they are for next week. Stop back by and say hi next time! :) oh, the calamity!

Your "mistake" could make a great patchwork bag. Then it would be raised to a happy accident or creativity! :O)

I love it! Enough to maybe, actually start a project. I've been quite uninspired lately.
