I know, I know everything's coming up roses at Queenly Things. What can I say, I love me some roses. While I was crocheting that last batch I wondered if I couldn't use up some of piles of felted sweaters and wool to make even more roses, a veritable mountain of roses could be mine. I could tumble down mounds of soft, wooly roses - cashmere roses even. I mean who wouldn't want to?
I took one of the crocheted rosesI'd made and used it as a pattern. Then I just cut out bunches of these coils from old blankies, moth-eaten sweaters and whatever other scrumptiousness I could find.
To form the flower, just wrap 'round and 'round until it looks like this on the bottom. I wrapped so that the right side (the purl side) of the knit was on the inside.
I stitched from the inside out in spokes, kind of shaping the rose as I went. And that's it. Five minutes tops from start to finish.
What to do with all that rosiness? A hat perhaps?
Decorate a scarf...
or scarves.
Rosy brooches for a lapel
Spiff up a new pillow cover.
You can put all your roses in one basket...
And crown yourself Queen of the Rose Parade.
(the beautiful crown basket is from Alice Ann, my yellow rose in Texas.)
Now you know how I love tutorials! Those roses are just wonderful, no matter where they end up. Oy, do I have me some catchin' up to do!! Missed you. <3

Absolutely gorgeous - wish this was here first thing this morning before the charity collection came and took my big bags of 'stuff'. I could have made so many coloured roses. Never mind, I am sure that the Salvation Army will put the clothes, etc to a much better use. I think I might raid my old scarves bag and see what I can recycle there!

You never cease to amaze me! Love them on the scarves is lovely. I found a j jill sweatshirt at the goodwill brand new except for a slight stain on the front. Guess what might cover it up?????

Oooh how cool. I can't make the crochet ones, but I might be able to copy these. Also cool to see myself on your blog -- well my name anyway. Glad the crown came in handy! You are the queen of crafts!

That so clever, using the crocheted rose to make a template! I'm tempted to try to make a template based on your picture, but maybe I'll crochet one first.

The deep red ones would look faboo on a gray scarf or wrap......I think one on the wrist area of a longer glove would look smashing as well

Hi, I love your wooly roses. But how can I get the pattern to make the wooly roses. Rita

I too love the idea of making these roses! Thx for sharing your idea. Is there somewhere for me to find a template for a pattern? My drawing skills are lacking when I try to freehand, so a pattern would be lovely if you wouldn't mind to tell me where to find one! Thx!
